Druids in WoW? How about take a huge leap backwards in time and think about Druids in Diablo 2?

ah well i've never played diablo. I know the majority of the things didn't originate from WoW. I just haven't played the other games to compare them to, so therefore I just compare it to a popular game. I think though the first time i was introduced into an online RPG game was Phantasy Star online i think? I was like 13 or maybe like 14 haha I don't remember but the whole concept of playing an RPG online with other people amazed me. But then I learned about the pay to play go no subscription fee! haha but yeah back on topic

I'll probably be a sylvari or a humann

I just hope that the new races won't be something WH/DnD-ish:

"The Sylvari have an innate bond with plants, and each other. They call this the Dream of Dreams. However, concealed within the Dream of Dreams are nightmares, something which the Sylvari do not yet understand. They are beings of light as they have yet to be corrupted by the knowledge of sorrow, suspicion, or hatred."

Dark Elv... Err Sylvari, anyone?

Also if anyone remembers what the asura were in utopia...
A creepy race of primitive underground dwellers... Maybe an asuran sub-fraction?

Hope they don't use those.

You should be beaten for this suggestion. Repeatedly, with a heavy object.

But dark elements of a race aren't a new concept. Heck, we have the Stone Summit Dwarves, most of the Charr initially, etc...

That dark dream stuff could be a hint at potential evil in the race, or possibly part of the corruption of the world in some other fashion.

Ultimately, I wouldn't be suprised if expansions allowed for an extra race to be playable. Centaurs, Tengu, Dwarves (yes, i can see them coming back), there's several options in the current timeline, and possibly more later. Only dwarves and humans are from canned fantasy (Well, Centaurs are too, but they're rarely a playable race).

Emerald Dream? Wanna bet that that nightmare is some kind of green dragon?

Devs need to play less of WoW.

It ain't a suggestion :P Rather an anti-suggestion.
And I know that dark elements aren't a new concept... But I just hope that they dont use the whole "Dark times" to come up with such cliché "races".
Anyway here's some nice shots of the original asura concept (Utopia prolly):

Hope they don't use these, pair them up with the current and get some goblin/skaven hybrid.

As for the dwarves;
I truly don't see a place for dwarves anymore.
They were always a "Ruff-tuff" ale-drinking race with sprinkles of ingeniuity.
Now we have the Norn to fill that gap, charr to some extent, and the asura for their tinker-ish nature.
I love the Guild Wars lore and races. Why?
Because it's one of the very few fantasy settings WITHOUT your generic Orcs, Elves and Dwarves.
The last one was "cleaned up" in the last chapter.

Now let's keep that originality without adding dark/blood/chaos/twilight/genericevilsoundingterm races.

Even if you were playing GW2 as a beta tester, you'd have to sign an NDA. If you don't know what it means, look it up.

So, if you are testing GW2, and what you say is true, you're breaking the NDA and you can get a lawsuit. Seeing how you probably don't want that, everything you said is a lie and you're an idiot.

Next.

I don't know...playing Naga rings a bit like playing the Grawl. Even the Heket seem smarter.

If they up and changed the way the Asura look I'd be pretty turned off by it. They might use those concepts to come up with the way several classes look, eg. the face paint on an Asuran Ritualist. The Asuran race is incredibly smart, though, and Anet has suggested that they would be a neutral race.

Granted there are good/evil sides to the Charr, humans and Dwarves, but if we see Dark Sylvari and Asura, I'll be surprised.

Um yes, where did you read this emerlald dream crap. if they were to dream about a dragon what a generic idea, c'mon WOW are not original (i dont care if they are 2 ex-blizzard emplyeese). I will end this and say neither is gw to be honest.
They are completly different games but ofcouse some concepts are not original, what ideas are nowadays?

Seriously. WoW caters so well to fantasy fanatics that when a game like Guild Wars borrows something so blatantly generic like shape-shifters or the dragon dream, as you mentioned--because who hasn't heard of the oh so original concept of a harbinger dream?--they boast an aura of superiority 'cause GW so totally ripped on WoW.

Are these new races gender specific because I can not imagine how the female char would look like.

Nope, thus far the only gender specific proffesion is Sylvari. That is still subject to change though; the only evidence we have is a concept art.

There are female and male genders for all races in GW2.

how can you say that Norn are imbalanced.....THE GAME ISN'T OUT YET!
we know nothing about it, and i for one am gonna make a charr as my main without a doubt.

it's fine we haven't seen a Silviari, new concept art will come out soon (eventually, but who's counting )

edit: I thought that the dream of dreams was the thing that allowed Silviari to know how to do things without being taught when they are born? Let me check on this.

yeah i wondered about that myself.

seems like dwarves can resist the call to transform...for some time.

http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/s...php?t=10233384

wiki says "The Dwarves, who pursued the Destroyers deep and long at the end of Eye of the North, are now deathless creatures of stone; the few who remain watch the ages go by, interacting little with the other sentient races, if at all."

but the wiki is a lie.

Btw, yea I hope there won't be particular bonuses for each race, since I don't want to make a character and then have to make a different one since the race I chose is not very suitable for that profession or whatever....

The thing that worries me are armors....I will surely chose a race just to notice that all other ones have cooler armors for that class....meh

don't worry, from what I have heard, all the classes will be able to play all professions on an equal playing field, with some general buff/skill/trait that benefits all proffesions

ie: Norns will have forms (bear form confirmed)

I be humans will have some shout based buff that helps the group (we have seen the buffing power of the battle standards). Ausuran will probably have some speed/casting/attacking buff skill. Charr and Silviari i have no clue on however.

please don't get angry at my specualtions
